Our organization utilizes Google Chrome Remote Desktop to provide assistance to our staff and students. When a user cannot fully fulfill a technical issue with the device or any programs within their Chromebooks, then that is when we use the Chrome Remote Desktop. Once we are able to establish a connection to the Chromebook in question we are able to provide a resolution to any issues the users may be facing.
  • Establishes a secure connection to the affected Chromebook
  • Makes remote connection easy
  • Allows us to provide more assistance
  • Would like to be able to see installation prompts on Windows machines
Chrome Remote Desktop is well suited in providing a great form of connectivity. With the simple ease of connectivity that Chrome Remote Desktop provides, we are able to provide fast and efficient resolutions to our users. It's particularly great at being able to create a secure channel for us to be able to see the problem at hand clearly.

  • Allowed us to provide more software resolutions over hardware.
Chrome Remote Desktop seems to be a an easy to use and efficient program. Such as TeamViewer, however TeamViewer offers more program features such as able to control a device's function (shutting down, restarting, audio input, cmd etc). With those added program features I believe Chrome Remote Desktop can almost be up to par with TeamViewer.

It is not technically being utilized across the whole organization, but more so on a departmental level. It is one of the tools available for our technicians to use while they provide remote assistance with our users. As we have been using a commercial remote desktop solution for quite some time, there were some problems with the software, where we needed to look for alternative software solutions. One of these was Chrome Remote Desktop, which we have used with supporting users from time to time, and has worked really well. The biggest benefits to the business are there is no cost, it is available to everyone, and it is really easy/intuitive to use, both from a technician and user perspective. It also doesn't have some of the issues/problems we have seen with some other "commercial" remote desktop solutions.
  • It really is easy/intuitive to use. There really is no formal training that is required to learn how to use Chrome Remote Desktop, nor is there a need to look at complex documentation to use it, or get it to work
  • It really integrates well with the browser, namely Chrome. It is also compatible across most devices, including mobile devices such as iPhones and Android. It doesn't necessarily have to be used from a PC/Computer, and can really be used most anywhere
  • It really offers most of the basic functions that most anyone would want, such as resizing the display session, keyboard controls, file transfer, etc. It is also secure, as you can set a PIN for accessing the remote computer
  • One are of improvement could be to offer the user the ability to change the time interval of the automatic session/computer lock out. I did not find a way to manipulate/change this. With another remote solution I have used, the default time interval was set to never lock the open session.
  • There also doesn't seem to be an easy way to copy/paste information from your local clipboard to the remote computer. Some other remote desktop solutions have this enabled by default.
  • One feature that would be nice to have would be to have the ability to "blackout" the screen on the remote computer, whenever you have control of the remote computer. This would help by letting the person on the other end to know that the computer is currently being used by the remote user, and to not interfere with the session.
It is well suited in cases where your company/organization is looking for a low/no cost remote desktop solution, or is looking for something that can be used by most anyone right away. Most organizations don't want things to be too complex, especially with a remote desktop solution, which is generally not very complex software to begin with. It would be less appropriate in cases where the company/organization has already purchased licensing for a commercial product, and/or has been heavily using a commercial product for some time.

  • The biggest positive impact has been cost savings. There is no cost to install/use it
  • It is available across a wide range of devices, which in any organization, there are already a host of all kinds of different devices that people use, so most anyone can utilize it on the device that they have
  • It helps to save time from the IT department/technician point of view, since they really don't have to take the time to train users in how to use the software. It also saves the IT department time in not having to read through documentation to try and get the software to work
Most of the other software solutions come at a cost for the licensing, and it is usually not cheap, given that you need to have commercial licensing for a business/organization. Also, with the other remote desktop solutions, there is more of a learning curve in order to use, them. With Chrome Remote Desktop that is not the case. Lastly, some of the problems that were seen in some of the paid commercial solutions, have not been seen with Chrome Remote Desktop.
I think Google has put together some very good, and brief, documentation on their website, for anyone wanting to read more about utilizing some of the other features of Chrome Remote Desktop. I'm not sure if Google offers any kind of web/email/phone support for this product, but I would honestly say, they have enough instructions/documentation on their website that anyone can use to hit the ground running with using Chrome Remote Desktop.

We use Chrome Remote Desktop to access certain resources that are only available on machines physically located at our corporate office. Only a few users need it, mainly in the accounting and human resources departments. While Chrome Remote Desktop isn't my primary solution for remote access, I use it quite often when other solutions don't work or are down for maintenance.
  • Can't beat the price -- it's free!
  • Setup is very easy, even for tech-challenged people
  • Interface is straightforward and simple
  • Locks you into the Chrome environment
  • Display options are limited when you use multiple monitors on the remote host
  • File transfer functionality is clumsy
For a simple remote access solution, Chrome Remote Desktop is an ideal option. It's easy to set up, connects pretty reliably, and lets you work as if you're sitting at the remote PC. If you need a more robust solution to access/support multiple machines, use multiple monitors, transfer files easily, or need to turn machines on and off remotely, you may want to look elsewhere.

  • Can't really determine ROI since it's a free product, but it's definitely worth the time spent setting it up!
  • I have additional peace of mind knowing I have this as a secondary option for accessing my work PC.
  • Chrome Remote Desktop is great for single users, but not designed for enterprise use.
No one can beat Chrome Remote Desktop's price! But that price (free) means something--missing features, limited support. For true business use, access to multiple machines, robust support, etc., I'd go with one of the more expensive options.
The only support I ever accessed were help files and web tutorials. I never tried to access personal support, mostly because I don't believe much of it is available. As a free service, my expectations for support are pretty low; that said, Chrome Remote Desktop is easy enough to configure and troubleshoot even with limited technical knowledge.

Chrome Remote Desktop is used within our organization to obtain 'line-of-site' when it comes to supporting our hardware in the field remotely. As our organization utilizes the power of Google for Work - Google App Suites all of our devices are enrolled and managed via google MDM, this is only half the battle when it comes to supporting and accessing your hardware in the field. With the Chrome Remote Desktop app my team and I can easily access a device as long as it's connected to the internet even in a locked-down kiosk state. The business problem this solves is quite obvious, no more on-site technicians to troubleshoot a software or configuration issue as we can do it remotely with Chrome Remote Desktop!

  • Remotely accessing devices in the field, even when on a client network or cellular network
  • Ease of use - the software is simple and even the least tech-savvy associate can use the tool
  • Seamless connection - the connection is stable, smooth and allows for seamless control of the remote device
  • Easy to install - installed via policies through google admin
  • Lightweight - If you're looking for a robust tool this may not be it, this allows for straight-forward connecting to the remote device.
  • No saved preferences - you'll have to use a different code to connect to each device
  • Firewall rules required - Chrome Remote Desktop requires pin-holes in your firewall to open certain ports if you're using in a locked down network.
Chrome Remote Desktop is a great tool to use when needing to quickly connect to a remote device for troubleshooting or visibility into a problem occurring on the remote device. The tool allows you to connect immediately with only an internet connection and directly to your device. For Multiple device deployments this is a perfect tool that provides line-of-site into all your devices and allows you to ensure their in working order.

For scenarios that you'd like to transfer and pass back and fourth control, Chrome Remote Desktop wouldn't be the tool to use - there are other robust remote support tools that can do this, but at a higher cost for licensing.

  • Chrome Remote Desktop provides a positive ROI as you no longer need to pay for on-site visits to configure or troubleshoot a software issue. The ability to remotely connect allows you to be more flexible with your support team as they only need an internet connection to use this tool and remotely support devices in the field.
  • Our organization uses Google Suites and it's platforms to manage our devices, having a google app - Chrome Remote Desktop makes perfect sense as it compliments the platform and configuration of our hardware already, no need for third-party applications.
  • If there is a problem with the internet connection at a site, Chrome Remote Desktop is obsolete and can
  • t be used, meaning a service-call or site visit is needed.
Chrome Remote Desktop compliments the Google for Work Admin suites perfectly, you can deploy this application to all your devices via policy from google, it's easy to use from the operators point of view and allows for a quick seamless connection to your device, the cost is relative and provides a service that is mandatory for our business to succeed in supporting our technology, other application we're too robust or wanted to re-invent the wheel. This tool was perfect from the start and any organization using the power of Google should look into using this tool to support and of their chrome devices.

Remote support of chrome devices enrolled with google for work. This tool allows for us to remotely support and configure google chrome devices in the field, instantly and seamlessly.

Any Technical support resource, Administrative Assistant or any resource that uses a computer and has a high-level understanding of computer technology. This tool is primarily used in IT help-desks and call-centres, however it provides the technology services teams remote access to all their devices and line-of-site to the hardware off-premise.
  • Remote support of the chrome devices deployed.
  • Seamless integration and deployment of the software with existing platforms (google for work)
  • Chrome enrolled devices are completely accessbile and remotely supported.
  • Users are not bogged down with cumbersome remote support software, very easy to use.
  • When devices are not working or we have a device in a kiosk mode we can see what the customer or associate see's, this allows for instant - real-time support.
  • The only use we'll be using Chrome Remote Desktop for is to continue supporting our chrome devices, enrolled with google for work.
A very easy lightweight tool that is completely scalable and deployed via google admin platform. The tool is free to use and works extremely well with the chrome devices we currently have deployed. Any organization using chrome or google suites should look into this tool as it's much easier to use then other remote software in the market.
  • Obtaining the support ID is easy - one click of the button!
  • Once connection has been established - smooth seamless connectivity
  • Nont-Tech Saavy assocaites use the system with ease
  • Trying to elevate permissions
  • No file-sharing or screen recording available
This tool is so lightweight and easy to use - there are only a few buttons to select from which are clearly marked. Any user who can turn on a computer can open the software to allow a tech to connect to their device. The power of google and chrome makes this tool very easy to use with uncompromisable vendor support.

I use Chrome Remote Desktop while I am mobile and may not have my laptop with me for remote access.
  • Chrome Remote Desktop works very well on mobile Android devices. It's smooth & easy to manage a multiple desktop workstation.
  • The application takes advantage of the local Android keyboard & voice to text really well.
  • Mouse input and window scrolling is on point even with 3 monitors on my workstation to my 1 mobile screen.
  • I wrote this last comment here using the Chrome Remote Desktop app on my Galaxy S7 edge.
  • I use multiple monitors on my workstation, a mouse speed setting would be nice to have.
  • Currently unable to use trail text input.
  • Lacking auto detection of text input boxes, have to click on an input field, then choose keyborad.
  • Spell check & predicted words do not work.
I believe the application is especially well suited when used from a mobile device such as phone or tablet where a laptop may not be available.

  • I use this individually, perhaps to pull up a quote I may have stored locally.
  • No ROI tracking at this time per this specific application.
  • For emergent needs, and if Windows remote desktop is not available, this application is invaluable.
  • LogMeIn, Windows Remote Desktop and pcAnywhre
Hands down Chrome Remote Desktop is the best option available if you find yourself mobile and without access to a laptop/PC. In some cases, I would say that this application outperforms the native Windows Remote Desktop application. However, there are some features missing, perhaps local to the Andriod OS or the phone platform such as keyboard options and mouse speed control.
